Rota planning
is hard

Managers have to balance people, skills, time off, fairness, cost, and compliance all at once. One small change in the rota can ripple through everything else.

Availability changes constantly

Time off, sickness, and shift swaps mean the rota is moving every week.

Coverage is crucial

Every shift needs the right number of people, with the right skills, at the right time.

Fairness matters

Hours, opportunity and unpopular shifts must be shared in a way teams trust.

Intelligent rota planning, without the complexity

Most rota software helps you organise shifts. Shifts by Electric Gap helps you decide who should work them.

Using optimisation technology normally reserved for large enterprises, Shifts by Electric Gap automatically builds schedules that balance availability, skills, fairness and business requirements — in seconds.

Generates rotas automatically

Create a complete rota in minutes instead of building schedules shift by shift.

Understands your team

Availability, skills, qualifications and business rules are considered automatically.

Balances competing priorities

Fairness, coverage and labour costs are all factored into the schedule.

Set up is simple

Set up your team once, then generate rotas quickly whenever things change.

We are currently working with a small number of teams to test and improve the tool. During this phase, the software is free to use. Getting started is simple. Create an account, add your business information, and generate your first rota.

Bruno Camino

Who we are

Electric Gap is a two-person team. We met five years ago and quickly realised we wanted to build something together, combining deep technical problem-solving with a strong understanding of how organisations actually work. Our shared focus is on tackling real-world problems carefully, one at a time, starting with rota planning.

Bruno Camino

Optimisation and software

Bruno works on designing optimisation algorithms and building reliable software for complex decision-making. His experience comes from academic research and applied engineering, including work at UCL and doctoral research at Imperial College London, where translating messy, real-world requirements into usable systems is a daily concern.

Christina Malcolm

Product, strategy and real-world delivery

Christina brings experience from marketing and strategy, including time at McKinsey, and now works in government policy. Her focus is on how ideas become tools people actually use, balancing ambition with practicality, and making sure systems fit the organisations they are built for.
